Tips for the week of July 26th 2009
* Add 1/4 cup milk while boiling 1kg of cauliflower, it gives crunchyness to it
* Put 5 cloves in sugar jar to keep ants away.
* Blanch almonds in hot water for 10 mins and the skin comes out easily
* Apply mashed banana over a burn on your body, it gives cooling effect.
* Soak coconut for 15 mins, makes easy to remove the husks.
Tips for the week of July 13th 2009
* Repel ants by sprinkling cream of tartar around the hole the ants come from, and they won't come out.
* When baking casserole dish, if u are using aluminium foil to cover it, make a fold at the middle to allow space for the steam or when baking pies make a hole at the centre of the foil for steam to escape
*To get the most juice from lemon or lime,before squeezing, roll them on the surface or between your palms for about 30seconds.
*To avoid egg shells cracking while boiling., add a pinch of salt in the water.
*If your stew or curry or any dish tastes salty while it is cooking add a piece of bread, it will absorbs extra salt.
* When buying potatoes in large quanity, put then in the bag with an apple to prevent budding.
* Brush meat pies with beaten egg whites for beautiful glossy finish.
Tips for the week of July 1st 2009
* When cutting or chopping onions , chewing gum, will keep you from shedding tears!
* Celery has negative calories! It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with. It's the same with apples.
* Add juice of lemon or lime for meat dishes to enhance the flavour.
Tips for the week of June 24th 2009
* Eat only when you are hungry.
* Place onions in the freezer for 15 mins before cutting or chopping, helps to stop shedding tears.
* Fill your stomach with 1/3 food, 1/3 liquids and 1/3 air.
* When making cottage cheese, use full cream milk, tastes yummy.
* Dont throw away overripe bananas, freeze them and use in making banana bread.
Tips for the week of June 19th 2009
* Utilise used squeezed lime or lemon to deodorise cutting boards
* Life is dull without SPICE!!!
* When making home made yoghurt, add a teaspoon of yoghurt while boiling the milk.
* Dont ever put cooking oil when the saucepan is very hot. ( I had bad experience, BEWARE!!)
* Try making mango juice added with a piece of papaya.
